Chelsea Hotel 1966
Director: Andy Warhol & Paul Morrissey
Throughout his illustrious career, Andy Warhol created numerous films, many of which were groundbreaking in their experimental nature, challenging societal norms. One such notable work was "Chelsea Girls," an art film that garnered immense success. Comprising twelve reels capturing conversations and monologues featuring Warhol's "superstars," the film was shot within the iconic Chelsea Hotel in New York.
The poster for "Chelsea Girls" exemplified the essence of the film with its creative depiction and subtle eroticism. Warhol himself expressed great satisfaction with the design, stating his desire for the film to match the brilliance of its poster.
In 2008, the Design Museum in London hosted a significant retrospective exhibition featuring the works of Alan Aldridge, including the original photograph.
